Let us talk about pressure. Pressure makes us grow, but too much pressure can also wear us down. The water pressure in the house also needs to have a normal range.
The normal range of water pressure in the home is 40PSI to 80PSI. If you go beyond that, the water pressure in your home has something wrong.
How to test water pressure? You can buy a water pressure meter and connect it to your outdoor spigot for testing. Before connecting, remember to turn on the hose bib, rinse off the impurities in it, and then connect the water pressure meter. Write down the water pressure gauge reading. Have someone else flush the toilet at home and record the change in the water pressure gauge reading with a video. Only slight fluctuations and drops in water pressure are normal.
The outdoor spigot of most houses is through the pressure reducing valve PRV, the same as the indoor water pressure, as shown in the figure 1, but there are also some houses the outside spigot is not through the pressure reducing valve, as shown in the figure 2. In this case, it is necessary to measure the water pressure in the laundry room, take the water pipe off the washing machine, and connect the water pressure meter.

Figure 2
All kinds of water equipment have minimum requirements for water pressure, if the water pressure is lower than 20PSI, all kinds of equipment will not be able to work normally.
For multi-story houses, the water pressure will decrease with the increase of the floor. Basically, the water pressure will decrease by 4-5PSI with each additional floor. Therefore, as mentioned above, the range of water pressure in home is 40-80psi, and city water is generally more than 100PSI, which can reach 40-80psi after passing through the pressure reducing valve in home.
