Can the water line be replaced without damaging my walkway?

The customer had a very high water bill recently, he suspected some where was leaking.

First, we checked the water meter to Identify the approximate location of the leak. After shutting off the main shut off valve inside, the meter showed it was leaking 0.29 gallon per minute, so the leaking location must be some where between the meter and the house.

We pumped air with high pressure into the outside plumbing system, and located the leaking spot with sonar equipment. The leaking spot was under the slab of the walkway.

We called 811 to mark all the lines underneath before we did excavation. The water line is about 5 feet deep and there are a lot of roots around it. So we used excavator to dig. We found the water lines at both sides of the slab. Then we pulled out the broken pipes under the slab with trenchless puller kit and replaced it.

After replacing, we detected the new pipes, no leaking any more. At last, we back filled the hole and cleaned the working site.

The customer was very happy that we finished the job without damaging his walkway.
