We got a job from a Bank 3 days ago, customer said:” Every morning, upon entering the branch, there is a sewage smell in the vestibule, the lobby, in the break room, and behind the transaction line”, They do not want their valued customers to feel the slightest bit bad, let alone smell something so bad. We went there to solve the issue once we got the request.
1 Go around the building looking for a clean out where we can connect with the smoke test equipment.
2 Open clean out to connect with the smoke test equipment
3 Do smoke test to find the general location. The smoke is coming from a locked storage room.
4 Do smoke test again to locate the exact sewer gas leaking spot.
A large amount of smoke rose from the storage room floor drain and spread through the hall from the open ceiling, so we knew the leaking spot was located in the floor drain.
5 Fix the floor drain issue
The storage room was rarely used, causing the water in the floor drain p trap to evaporate, and when the trap dried, it lost its water seal, leading to a sewer gas leak. We added a lot of water to re-form the water seal, and installed the waterless trap seal, so that even if the water evaporates again in the future, it will not cause leakage of sewer gas.
The bank branch can give their customers a gorgeous environment again.
